Western North Carolina native Kathy Beaver grew up with an avid interest in photography, taking high school photography classes and using a 110 camera to capture family memories. As an adult, Kathy felt a renewed love for what was once just a fun hobby, and that love grew into a skill and passion when she founded Kathy Beaver Photography in 2014. A business born out of her love for capturing the joy and legacy sparked by couples on the most special day of their lives, Kathy Beaver Photography believes in “capturing your legacy to be cherished throughout generations.”

In order to achieve clients’ goals – and to ensure their wedding day is stress and worry free – Kathy begins working and getting to know her clients’ before their wedding day. Beginning with a complimentary (!) engagement session in a location of their choice, Kathy enjoys spending time with couples, learning what they love, and letting them become familiar with how she works. In addition, she provides a Wedding Experience Guide to each of her brides that helps navigate wedding planning. Most important? Things to consider about their photography experience.

Kathy’s approachable and down-to-earth personality make this pre-wedding process a breeze. Eager to share advice for creating a seamless wedding day, Kathy offers much more than day-of, onsite photography – even coming with the couple to tour their venue and ceremony site and discuss what’s important to them. When photographing a wedding, Kathy focuses on embodying the excitement and joy the couple is experiencing so that it’s reflected in their photos and memories – all while being a background addition to the day, not a distraction.

As a person and a professional, Kathy values simplicity. Often working with clients who have busy lives, it’s important to Kathy to lend her expertise, capturing perfect memories so that clients can fully relax and enjoy their day. As a native of the Asheville area, Kathy also has a knack for beautifully-capturing mountain landscapes.

“I love working with clients from different backgrounds and areas – whether local or traveling in for a destination wedding. Couples choose our area for a reason, and I like to showcase that in my work.”

Kathy is also familiar with Chestnut Ridge, having worked and spent time with us on numerous occasions. Growing up on a farm in nearby Rutherfordton, Kathy understands the unique heritage associated with ‘family land’, and the beautiful legacies created there.
