Let’s set the scene: your special day has arrived. You’re surrounded by those you love most, lifelong memories are being made, and you’re about to pledge your life and love to your best friend. You’ve reminded yourself to take as many mental photos as possible: the look on his face when he first sees you as a bride, your family speaking words of wisdom, your best friends looking radiant as they stand beside you, the looks you exchange with your new husband as you celebrate throughout the day. Of all the memories you’ll replay a million times in your mind, there are none you want to miss or forget. Now, imagine each of these special moments, plus a thousand more you don’t get to see that day, captured in a film set to your favorite music, hearing your own voices and vows narrating these life-changing moments.

Enter: Asheville wedding videographers and film professionals Jenny Roberts and Bryan Bell of Heartistree Studios. Expertly trained and passionate about their work, Jenny and Bryan bring a knack for heart-centered filmmaking to the western North Carolina wedding industry, offering couples the chance to star in their very own wedding-day movie.

Natives of Maryland, Jenny and Bryan first connected in high school. After pursuing education and beginning careers – Jenny got a Master of Arts degree and produced television commercials and award-winning documentaries; Bryan pursued music production and cinematography, working with multiple bands and artists – the two met again in 2014 and instantly reconnected. Upon realizing their talents could be utilized very well together, the couple relocated to Asheville to launch Heartistree Studios with the goal of creating meaningful wedding videos for couples that capture and embody the sentiments, ambiance, and love that truly make the celebration.

With their artistic backgrounds, both Jenny and Bryan know themselves as storytellers, and have a special eye for looking for authentic moments the bride and groom may miss throughout the day. Jenny, having owned her own independent wedding film business for over a decade, has developed a sense to anticipate what’s coming and quickly spot candid moments with the camera. Bryan brings technical expertise, ensuring sound clips are captured flawlessly and spending time with the groom and groomsmen as they prepare for the ceremony to take special shots. And, with two people filming, they get to be as creative as possible, providing different perspectives and using a variety of cinema tools – such as slow motion and gliding camera shots – to tell the story.

“We work almost seamlessly as a team,” says Jenny. “We both bring our own creative eye and skill set to the shoots, always with the goal of flying under the radar. We’re always available, but never obtrusive.”

Jenny and Bryan chose to launch Heartistree Studios in the Asheville area because the town and region capture their outlook and life values. They love the welcoming, artistic environment and the chance they have to work with diverse couples, including those who choose the area for a destination wedding as well as locals.

“Every wedding gives us the opportunity to create something special and expand by working with new couples,” the couple says. “We get to observe who they are from behind the lens and use our instinctual abilities, as well as their input, to craft their film.”

Heartistree Studios’ standard package includes a highlight film and a long-form video of the ceremony and reception events. The highlight film, like the one featured here, is a true work of art. When composing this piece, Bryan and Jenny utilize sound from the ceremony vows, reception speeches, and sometimes the reading of letters or messages the bride and groom have written to each other to provide beautiful narration to the footage, lending their artistic skill to the beautifully-captured film.

Heartistree Studios is featured on WeddingWire, and won a 2016 WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award. They were also featured on Thumbtack’s Best of 2016 and are members of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and Wish Upon a Wedding, a nonprofit organization granting weddings and vow renewals for couples facing serious illness or life-altering circumstance.
