However, when Taylor and Preston decided to build a timeless style wedding venue nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, they pioneered a great avenue for all-inclusive destination weddings! If you’re “not from these parts” then you might have good reason to ask why Chestnut Ridge in Canton, North Carolina is a mountain wedding destination. Well, sit back, grab a mimosa, and let a local give you the grand tour. 

Welcome to the Mountains

Chestnut Ridge rests in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the outskirts of Canton, North Carolina. The town’s motto is “where the mountains kiss the sky,” and by taking a quick glance at the photo above, you will be delighted to see that the motto fits like a glove. CR is conveniently located 20 minutes from the city of Asheville, North Carolina. Within the last 7 years, Asheville has been on a rapid population incline. This includes residents, tourists, and college attendees alike. 

Why is this you ask? Well, 3 very enveloping reasons: the art, the views, and the beer. Now you might have a sneaky suspicion that we have a few magic tricks hidden in these hills, and you would be correct. WNC (& Asheville most definitely) have built an environment that has a little something for everyone. Asheville, the city itself, is thoroughly inspired by artists of all kinds. You can’t walk in Asheville for more than a block without seeing wall murals, art deco shops, florists, cuisines, breweries, distilleries, and so much more.

Here in WNC, mom & pop places are the trend! The unapologetic passion that each artist pours into their craft is  what builds these areas brick by brick. On top of the hand crafted aesthetics brought to WNC, the natural, God given elements that are found here are the main source of our visitor’s arrivals. Rushing rivers, alternating seasons, and glorious mountain views are all what maintains this area’s beauty. To climb up to feels like the top of the world and overlook the land beneath you, you gain a certain ominous view of what your place on earth you hold.

Imagine this: waking up, pouring yourself a cup of coffee, add a little cream & sugar, or Bailey’s (hey, I don’t know what kinda gal you are in the mornings), and looking out your window to see views that they only describe in Yoga class. Now THAT is a good morning! You slip on your favorite jeans, and walk down for some lunch. You walk a few blocks to realize you don’t recognize a single restaurant name. Glance at the menus in hope of finding your favorite meal. Somehow, you can’t seem to pick a restaurant to try. They all look so good! You whip out your phone and Googling “best restaurants in WNC,” and end up choosing the restaurant you saw first. Wouldn’t you know, it truly was the best darn meal you have had so far (don’t worry it only gets better from there)!

For an afternoon snack and drink, you head to one of the breweries you caught a glimpse of on the way in. You’re normally a wine gal, and there were plenty of wine bars around, but when in Rome, right? You walk into the brewery, and sit down on an industrial, art deco barstool. You glance over the beer menu, and you don’t recognize any names. The friendly bar staff leans over, seeing your confusion, and asks to assist. They ask you your favorite drinks, your favorite foods, or maybe even how you like your coffee. Based on their questions, they will serve you up a detailed tasting of beer based solely off your tastes. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, that is just WNC! A mountain wedding destination rests within Asheville’s specialty!
